What this skeleton told us: Evidence
This was the disturbed burial of an adult of unknown sex. The fragments of skull show a possible infected tooth root on the left side of the jaw bone but this is uncertain due to erosion and damage. There is also a squatting facet on the right shin bone (tibia), identified by the presence of a small extension to the joint surface at the bottom of the bone.
Interpretation of the evidence
Even in this partially preserved skeleton, dental problems are still evident, which are common in the majority of the Bowl Hole skeletons. The squatting facets suggest squatting for long periods of time and this might have been related to specific activities she was involved in, such as in farming.
