What this skeleton told us: Evidence
A young adult man and 169 cm tall (5 feet 7 inches). Some tooth decay was present but the teeth were generally healthy, although there are some abnormal wear patterns on the lower incisors. Possible fracture of the right second rib and soft tissue damage to the lower right leg based on changes to the tibia and fibula.
Interpretation of the evidence
Unusually for the Bowl Hole skeletons, this man had relatively good dental hygiene, but the abnormal wear pattern on the lower incisor teeth suggest he might have used his teeth as a tool, and the tooth decay indicates sugar in his diet. There is evidence of a break (fracture) to the lower leg.
